NEW HIGHER PAY: $33,272 – $58,226
The Challenge
We are hiring 4 experienced transportation worker III’s to join our Warren County Maintenance team.
 
In this role, you will:
    • Do preventive maintenance, repair, and construction of State-maintained roads and roadside features.
    • Install traffic & erosion control devices.
    • Clear right of ways.
    • Perform roadway grading and machining of unpaved roads.
    • Perform pavement repairs, pipe installations, and other drainage tasks.
    • Inspect contract work and monitor manual tasks performed.
    • Lead emergency response, including traffic accident clean-ups, snow and ice removal, and other emergencies as they occur.
    • Operate equipment, including bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, skid steers, tandem dump trucks, front end loaders, tractor trailers, motor graders, rollers, and other heavy equipment.
 
What You Bring
    • Commercial Driver’s License. (Note: If you don’t have this yet, STILL APPLY! You can get it through our on-the-job training within 360 days of hire).
    • Knowledge of Intermediate Work Zone Safety.
    • Experience in installation of traffic controls.
    • Experience in 1+:  shoulder and ditch maintenance, pipe installation, or asphalt patching.
    • Experience in snow and ice removal operations.
    • Experience in the operation of 2+ pieces of the following equipment:  backhoes, tandem dump trucks, motor graders, front end loaders, forklifts, force feed loaders, asphalt distributors, crack sealing machines, track excavators, skid steers or sweepers.
    • Ability to safely operate a Class A motor vehicle with N endorsement.
    • Ability to perform flagging operations to safely guide traffic through work zones.
    • Communications skills to receive and give effective written and verbal communications.
    • Fitness to perform manual labor for extended time.
    • Skills to operate equipment that vibrates.
    • Flexibility to perform essential functions in extreme hot and cold weather.
    • Agility to climb, bend, and traverse steep and uneven terrain.
    • Strength to repetitively lift 50 pounds.
    • Ability to act upon verbal and written communications.
    • Safety-toe shoes.
Notes
    • We may require work during non-traditional work hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
    • We will conduct a pre-employment drug test and check with your employers over the past 2 years for alcohol/drug abuse.
    • This role has emergency call backs and scheduled night work during bad weather or other extreme circumstances.
Education & Experience
    • High school/GED diploma, and
    • 5+ years of relevant experience; or
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
