Job Description
- Plan and schedule maintenance activities.
- Assign crews and equipment.
- Determine resource needs, including materials.
- Inspect activities of crews in progress and at task completion to ensure compliance with standards and instructions.
- Check and monitor staff work reports and account for time, work completed, materials and equipment used.
- Respond to complaints/requests and route inspection of problems and conditions in order to plan work.
- Relay information about policy, procedures, and standards to all staff.
- Interview and recommend new hires.
- Maintain diaries and required records.
- Perform routine safety audits.
- Monitor inventory.
- Coordinate and supervise force account construction.
- Monitor expenditures and work accomplished to assure compliance with budgets and work plans.
- Maintain tasks in our MMS system and respond to afterhours highway emergencies, snow, ice, and other severe weather events.
- Direct, assist, and train staff.
- Calculate quantities of material needed or work performed by using math skills.
- Make field investigations on unlevel terrain.
- Supervise maintenance program implementation and monitor work operation to ensure efficient and safe use of staff, equipment, and materials.
- Supervise and evaluate performance of other staff and be able to communicate, establish, and maintain working relationships with co-workers, management, and the public.
- Working knowledge of standard maintenance procedures.
- Experience planning and organizing work.
- Experience filling out daily work sheets documenting staff, equipment and locations worked.
- Experience calculating materials quantities needed for work crews to perform daily functions.
- Supervisory experience supervising work crews.
- Ability to perform cost estimates for budget needs.
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures and uneven terrain conditions for extended periods of time.
- Able respond and work in emergency call situations and inclement weather.
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
- Safety toe shoes.
- High School/GED diploma, and
- 7+ years of progressive experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
