Full-Time Transportation Engineering Supervisor III – NEW HIGHER PAY!
Job Description
- Lead 2 Traffic Control squad’s design engineers in the development and oversight of Transportation Management Plans (TMP’s) for diverse projects and traffic control-related special assignments.
- Serve as our Regional expert on all TMP matters relating to construction staging, traffic operations, temporary traffic control, and public information.
- Oversee and approve all TMPs produced by internal staff and determine projects to be outsourced to consultants for the Eastern Region.
- Plan and prioritize work operations and workloads for the each design squad.
- Monitor and adjust work assignments and schedules to ensure Transportation Improvement Projects (TIP) delivery deadlines are met. Workloads and expected project delivery are based on the available staff, skill levels, and productivity of each employee in the respective design squads.
- Make decisions to outsource TMP work to consultants through the Division’s Limit Service Agreement Contract.
- Approve project scope, price, and contract administration for project work performed by consultants.
- Create Design/Build Scopes of Work, Short Listing of Design/Build Teams, and approve all Design/Build TMP submittals.
- Lead technical training of Squad Leaders in the Eastern Group to ensure all NCDOT Safety and Mobility and other statewide policies are properly executed.
- Manage staff issues related to the approval of time, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
- Design or implementation experience in Transportation Management Plan/Temporary Traffic Control Design.
- Experience in plan submittal reviews from internal staff or consultants.
- Knowledge about Roadway and Structure Plan design analysis and related construction techniques used in building highways and bridges.
- Roadway construction, traffic maintenance, and contract administration experience.
- Experience supervising permanent employees, contractors, and/or consultants.
- Candidates registered as professional engineers.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, and
- 5+ years of relevant experience, and
- 3+ years supervisory experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
