Job Description

Training and Employment Projects Manager

The Purpose:       
Manchester United Foundation believes every young person should feel empowered to achieve their goals and uses the power of football and Manchester United to support young people to make positive choices in their live.

This role is based within the 16-21 department with the aim of progressing young people closer to employment. This is achieved by:

  • Managing and delivering the Manchester United Foundation Traineeship programme.
  • Managing the recruitment, development, and progression of Foundation participants through the First Jobs employment and Next Move Into training programmes.
  • Delivering and coordinating wider accredited and non-accredited employability programmes at the Foundation (e.g., First Jobs, Next Move Into, and United Futures)

The Role

  • To coordinate and tutor on the traineeship, employment and Next Move Into employability programmes.
  • To complete Governance and Awarding body compliance (IQA/EQA processes) in supporting participants to gain qualifications.
  • Responsible for the coordination of learner reviews with tutors, parents, and employers.
  • To work with the Employability and Skills Manager to ensure activities and partnerships are meeting all budgetary obligations.
  • Engaging with a range of stakeholders (e.g., education providers, industry, club partners, parents, and employers)
  • To support extracurricular and match day activities.
  • To uphold and promote the Foundation’s Safeguarding policy and those of partners, working in conjunction with both Manchester United FC’s Safeguarding team and partner leads.
  • To complete, maintain and review risk assessments to always ensure a safe and healthy working environment in accordance with Foundation and Manchester United Football Club’s policies.
  • Engagement, recruitment, retention, achievement, and progression of leaners across a range of programmes into education training or employment.
  • Any other reasonable duty as may be assigned that is consistent with the purpose of the role and its level of responsibility, including the ability to work flexible hours, such as match days and travel.
  • To mentor and support Foundation participants on the traineeship programme.
  • To ensure everything is done safely, fairly, effectively, and efficiently (strong governance).
  • Planning and delivering is to the best of standards (high quality).
  • To capture the success and impact of your work (monitoring and evaluation).
  • Responsible to safeguard the welfare of children and adults at risk.

The Person

Knowledge

  • Post 16 education and employment pathways and progressions (NEET, Traineeship, apprenticeships, study programme and adults)
  • Awarding body criteria and IQA processes.
  • Awareness of apprenticeship standards and delivery models.
  • National Curriculum and Ofsted Framework within schools and colleges (EIF).
  • Motivation and understanding young people from deprived areas.

Experience

  • Minimum of three years’ experience working with children and young people, preferably within a charitable, educational, employability or sporting environment on a range of accredited and non-accredited programmes.
  • Delivering employability units to certification and industry standards subject to EQA audits and work-based assessments.
  • Experience of scoping, delivering, monitoring, and evaluating a range of traineeship / employability programmes (e.g., tracking learner progress).
  • Raising the profile of a programme and becoming a thought leader.

Skills

  • Ability to deliver engaging and inspiring sessions for Foundation participants predominantly 16+.
  • Ability to engage with a range of stakeholders to achieve strategic and contractual objectives.
  • Organisational and communication skills (written, verbal and listening).
  • Think strategically in the context of, and alignment with, wider existing objectives and partnerships.
  • Financial Management (planning, organising, directing, and controlling financial activities).
  • Ability to capture the success and report on the impact of your work.
  • Proficiency in digital communication and digital skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programmes and Google docs.

Qualifications

  • Teaching Qualification Cert Ed/ PTLLS/PGCE
  • UK driving licence with access to own car for business use.
  • Qualification in Youth Work (Desirable)
  • Assessors Qualification (Desirable)
  • IQA Qualification (Desirable)
