Temporary Training and Development Specialist
Job Description
- Plan, design and coordinate training programs for staff in the Region of Peel as well as externally throughout the Province
- Develops training modules to teach the regulations, policies and procedures for related acts, and all other procedures related to the delivery of Housing programs and maintaining successful tenancies as the landlord
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of government policy, programs, and legislation
- Represent the Region in Partnerships to design and deliver training province-wide
- Recommend Divisional changes to Peel Housing Corporation policies and procedures
- Identify issues and trends regarding current technologies, business practices, programs and legislation and make recommendations for improvements
- Collaborate and obtain consensus from a variety of internal and external resources on projects and events
- Develops strategic training programs based on department and interdepartmental objectives
- Provide information, advice and expertise to all divisional staff and other external government agencies
- Develop new initiatives to improve quality of service with a focus on fiscal responsibility
- Participates in the development of policies and procedures and ensures these standards are incorporated into all training programs
- In response to legislated changes or other identified needs, conducts the training sessions for all staff or designs and develops training material for People Leaders to use with their staff
- Responsible for preparing measurement tools and evaluating the effectiveness of all training programs and adjusting programs as required
- Conducts training needs assessments with all levels of staff
- Responsible for updating all training material in the event of organizational changes, legislative changes and new policies and procedures
- Coordinates the supply inventory and issuing of all necessary tools for all staff service
- Meets with People Leaders on a regular basis to identify training needs and to evaluate existing programs
- Acts as a consultant for supervisors and manager for policy clarification or interpretation on unique cases
What the role requires:
- Minimum of a college diploma plus one year formal education in the area of Adult Education, combined with 3-5 years experience in the social assistance field
- Ability to identify training needs, and plan, design, and deliver programs to meet the Divisions goals
- Extensive knowledge of multiple computer applications, including but not limited to MS Office, HTI, HET, Dom Doc and local applications
- Extensive knowledge of the Housing Services Act, Residential Tenancy Act, MFIPPA, and all other applicable or proposed relevant legislation
- Excellent knowledge of community resources
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle

- Ability to work independently
- Effective facilitation skills to convey information and the ability to employ a variety of instructional techniques
- Excellent communication skills including written skills for a variety of audiences at all levels and verbal skills to facilitate and to exchange and provide information as necessary
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to handle classroom problems effectively
- Effective time management and organizational skills to prioritize and manage a variety of different projects and ever-changing priorities
- Ability to adapt to technology and business changes on an ongoing basis

This position is a bargaining unit position represented by CUPE Local 966. Continuous employment is not guaranteed and may be subject to layoffs as outlined in the Collective Agreement Article 15
Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you’ll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you’ll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the 7120 Hurontario worksite. The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.
It’s important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that we’re compliant with all regulations and policies.
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
