Full-Time Traffic Incident Management Engineer – NEW HIGHER PAY!
Job Description
- Lead the pre-planning, coordination, and response to incidents impacting the operations and safety of the regional transportation network.
- Serve as the supervisor and administrator for our Incident Management Assistance Patrol Program (IMAP) in all counties in the Region, including metropolitan and rural areas.
- Oversee and lead our Regional Incident Management Program serving Divisions 7 and 9.
- Be the link between NCDOT Divisions and our Statewide Incident Management Program for the establishment of incidents management policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with other NCDOT units, Federal Highway Administration, NC Emergency Management, county emergency management officials, local municipality representatives, area emergency agencies (i.e., law enforcement, fire departments, rescue units, etc.), utility companies, and local groups to incorporate pertinent design information and public concerns into incident management planning and operations.
- Assess the progress, efforts, and effectiveness of our incident management plan.
- Knowledge and understanding of engineering concepts, practices, and theories used in Traffic Engineering.
- Experience completing work and projects independently or with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to present information effectively in a manner suited to the characteristics and needs of the audience.
- Experience supervising, motivating, counseling, and training staff.
- Experience setting priorities, developing work schedules, monitoring goal progress, and tracking details/data/information/activities.
- Computer skills and experience to create documents, manage databases, and prepare presentations/spreadsheets.
- Safety toe shoes are required.
- Management prefers candidates with a driver’s license.
- You will be required to complete our on-the-job IMAP Driver Training if you haven’t already done so.
- We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
- Bachelors Degree in engineering, and
- 3+ years of relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
