Full-Time Traffic Engineering Technician III
Job Description
- Perform engineering field work and create documentation to support our engineering practices and principals for Division 5 transportation project decision making.
- Assess crash data to address safety concerns.
- Prepare and administer purchase order contracts.
- Assist with collecting data for traffic speed studies, sign requests, and field information for signal requests.
- Respond to concerns of citizens and government departments.
- Conduct routine compliance inspections involving purchase order contracts.
- Program, deploy, and download electronic traffic data collectors.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Perform GIS data collection, maintenance, and management.
- Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems.
- Experience maintaining detailed records, analyzing findings, and recommending corrective actions.
- Experience with NCDOT design guidelines and engineering software applications.
- Knowledge of NCDOT maintenance and construction operations.
- Excellent verbal and written communications to communicate complex technical/program concepts and related facts in a clear, concise, organized, and persuasive manner.
- Ability to work outside for extended periods in variable weather conditions on uneven terrain.
- Safety toe shoes.
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
- Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or assigned discipline, and
- 3+ years of technician experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- You may be required to work at any time, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
