Full-Time Traffic Engineer I – Entry Level!
Job Description
- Manage the administration and inspection of purchase order contracts for signing and pavement markings.
- Conduct engineering studies related to signals, sign issues, pavement markings, and speed zones.
- Lead other engineering projects and assignments.
- Perform entry level engineering work in the application of professional techniques, standards, and guidelines to moderately difficult transportation problem analysis, designs, and project implementations.
- Assist senior engineers on major/complex transportation projects and our District Offices on project designs.
- Be involved in special event traffic management.
- General knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices.
- Understanding of design methods, NCDOT policies, standards, procedures, and practices of access management guidelines.
- Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.
- Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems.
- Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office, with good learning ability to learn our systems in Numetrics, Traffic Engineering Evaluation Software, and SAP.
- Good communications skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, contractors, and the public.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
- You may be required to register as a professional engineer with the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
