About The Position: The division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion leads the campus community to make diversity, equity and inclusion a priority in the way college functions through support of intentional actions. As a division, we are committed to offering a range of programs, policies, and practices that engage with the unique range of human experiences each individual enriches our campus with. The Title IX Office not only ensures the legal compliance of the institution but is also a vital resource for all campus constituents in regards to its provisions. The Title IX Officer will assist the college in achieving its goals in regards to development of sustainable systemic prevention and response to discrimination, sexual, and interpersonal violence. Responsibilities will include oversight of institutional compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of the 1972 Civil Rights Act (“Title IX”), Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (“Title VII”) (as Title VII applies to sex discrimination), the Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization of 2013 (“VAWA”), the Pregnancy Discrimination Act of 1978, and other related federal and state laws across the College’s campuses. The Title IX Officer also assumes primary responsibility for helping the College to achieve its goals of facilitating and enhancing the Title IX compliance program across all campuses in residential and online platforms, including without limitation: tracking best practices; staying abreast of legal developments; developing and monitoring implementation of Title IX policies and grievance procedures for resolving complaints of sex discrimination, assisting with the development, implementation, and measurement of the effectiveness of training, prevention, and awareness efforts for students, faculty and staff; overseeing, supporting, and coordinating with campus and SUNY systems-wide Title IX Coordinators/Officers; facilitating institution-wide communication on important Title IX issues; helping to leverage and disseminate best practices across the system; developing and maintaining a College Title IX website; providing guidance on specific Title IX cases in consultation with the SUNY Office of the General Counsel; identifying patterns or systematic issues of sex discrimination, and in collaboration with stakeholders will develop an institution-wide restorative practice model to complement other intervention models. As an institution that delivers challenging and high-quality educational experiences to a diverse group of learners, the successful candidate must demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to diversity, inclusion, and equity-minded policies, programs and practices.
