Full-Time Therapist

Job Description

The Therapist within the Center for Integrative Medicine at AIDS Care Group is responsible for promoting and restoring patients’ health through recovery-oriented psychotherapy. Through collaboration with ACG medical providers and a multidisciplinary team, the Therapist will provide care coordination and support to patients living with opioid use disorder and other comorbidities.

The incumbent must hold an active PA license as LPC, LMFT, or LCSW OR must be working toward licensure as an LPC. AIDS Care Group will provide supervision for a candidate pursuing the LPC.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and acknowledge all patients according to agency standards
  • Receive, record and relay messages accurately, completely and legibly
  • Speak with others using clear, professional and polite language
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support the ACG team to reach common goal
  • Psychotherapy: Provide assessments, referrals, individual, couples, group and/or family therapy as assigned. Also provide support and psychoeducational groups as indicated by Clinic needs and specific clinical expertise.
  • Coordination of care: Coordinate care of clients with medical staff and referral sources. Provide and gain consultation on a regular basis for your clients with other members of the treatment team. Refer clients to other levels of care or for other services as needed.
  • Crisis Intervention: Properly advise clients of your contact availability outside of treatment sessions, your contact information, and the on-call policy of the ACG team. Must make specific arrangements for coverage of your clients when on vacation, out-of-town, or are otherwise unavailable and inform the Director of Integrative Medicine.  Advise your clients of options with regard to emergency services available at area hospitals.
  • Charting: Complete all charting as needed and required by law, agency policy, and contracted funding sources including intakes, psychosocial assessments, treatment plans/updates, progress notes, service logs, and discharge planning. Special attention to releases of information and confidentiality is required.
  • Confidentiality: Therapists must maintain the confidentiality of all clients of ACG to the extent allowable by Pennsylvania and federal laws including HIPAA, the PA Confidentiality of HIV-related Information Act (Act 148), and 42 CFR Part 2.
  • Clinical supervision/staff training: Participate in team meetings and interdisciplinary work groups as designated by management.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements/ Qualifications:

  • Graduate training or higher from an accredited institution in professional counseling, social work, psychology, marriage & family therapy, or related field documented by original transcript
  • A minimum of two years (post bachelor’s degree) providing supervised professional therapy and/or assessment to clients with a wide range of DSM diagnoses
  • Experience with addiction, substance use disorders, depression, anxiety, and health psychology are strongly preferred
  • Experience or education related to the following treatment modalities: individual and group therapy, and psychoeducational groups
  • Experience with recovering persons as well as training in couples and family treatment is strongly preferred
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Good clinical writing skills and the ability to maintain client charts and provide reports as needed according to the policies and procedures of the Integrative Medicine team
  • Maintain professional liability (malpractice) insurance with coverage at a minimum of $1,000,000/occurrence and $3,000,000 aggregate. Verified cover sheet to be provided and updated annually by the therapist
  • If licensed, must provide the AIDS Care Group with original or verified copies of current license, clearances, and completion of up-to-date trainings and credentials to meet the requirements of both licensing and credentialing boards. Therapist must notify the AIDS Care Group and the Director of Integrative Medicine of any disciplinary action taken by any professional credentialing body within two working days of being notified of any such action
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, their families, couples, and groups with mental health problems

  • Ability to use computers, keyboards and mouse to enter, access or retrieve data
  • Ability to use photocopiers, scanners
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel from site to site as needed
