POSITION TITLE:  Tenure Track Assistant Professor – Department of Rehabilitation and Human Services at UNC

COMPENSATION RANGE: 69,000.00 – 75,000.00 USD per year

Position Description:
This position is a nine-month tenure track appointment at the Assistant Professor rank in the Department of Rehabilitation and Human Services within the College of Natural and Health Sciences. Responsibilities include teaching (60%), research (20%), and service (20%). The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in Human Services, conduct research including dissemination of findings and grant proposals, and provide service to the university and/or professional organizations and community.

Qualifications and Experience:

Minimum Requirements

An earned doctorate in human services, or a closely related field, with leadership, teaching, and research experience at the university level.

Preferred Requirements-

Effective university teaching using a variety of teaching methods, including online instruction; human services focused research; certified by CRC or LPC; and experience with human services related community outreach.

Target Start Date: August 18, 2025

About the Department: 

The Department of Rehabilitation and Human Services houses both Rehabilitation Counseling and Human Services. The Human Services program provides a comprehensive understanding of the techniques and theories in the helping professions. You will master the skills needed to solve real-world problems using a variety of human services methods. The undergraduate degree in Human Services provides students with the skills to be able to work in a variety of human services settings. A hallmark of this program is the fieldwork experiences integrated into course requirements. The Department of Rehabilitation and Human Services also houses the only rehabilitation degree program in Colorado. Students in this program are prepared at the professional level to work with people with physical and/or mental disabilities. The Rehabilitation Counseling graduate program includes experiences through practica and internships.
