Technician, Instructor and Work Base Assessor 

£27,165 – £28,958 per annum 

37 hours per week 

The working pattern is Monday to Thursday 7.5 hours per day, Friday 7 hours per day 

52 weeks per annum 

Abingdon Campus 

Permanent 

Start date: 14th August 2023 

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our fantastic Motor Vehicle Department at Abingdon and Witney College in the position of Technician, Instructor and work-based assessor to assist our growing team.  

 

You will play an integral role in directly supporting the future generation of automotive industry employees to develop industry standard knowledge, skills and behaviours. This combined role incorporates the maintenance and standard of vehicles and workshops, as well as instructing learners in the workshop and developing their knowledge and awareness of vehicle maintenance. Within this role you will also have the equivalent of 2 workdays to complete work-based observations/assessment for our apprenticeship provision.  

 

There will be an opportunity to work with a diverse range of learners including Entry Level 3 to Level 3 Apprentices, instructing across an array of elements including suspension and brakes, engine components, chassis and exhaust and many more. You will already have relevant experience of the automotive industry, perhaps as a mechanic or technician and may have previous experience in instructing or training.  

 

It is desirable for you to have a teaching, coaching or assessing qualification. However, if you don’t have these qualifications, Abingdon & Witney College will support you to achieve your Assessing qualifications and Award in Education & Training (AET) within your first year of employment.
