Salary Range: $76,054 – $95,068 per annum
Work Mode: Hybrid (Minimum 1 day onsite weekly, which may increase based on operational requirements)
Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton, ON
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
Who we are:
The Transportation Operations team at the Region of Peel is responsible for managing and improving traffic flow, safety, and transportation infrastructure within Peel Region. Our team focuses on a broad range of activities including traffic signal management, signage, road safety, implementation of traffic calming measures, and the coordination of construction projects to minimize their impact on traffic.
Position overview:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Operations and Safety, in this crucial role you will manage the permit application process for road occupancy, excess load moving, partial and full road closures and film and special event permits. Your work will ensure the smooth coordination of various activities on our roadways, contributing to the safety and efficiency of our operations.
What you will do in this role:
- Review and recommend approval for various Regional roads permit applications to ensure that all Regional infrastructure within the Regional road right-of-way is protected and that traffic safety and capacity are maintained.
- Review and process detailed engineering submissions for all applications as it relates work within the Regional road right-of-way.
- Review and process road occupancy permits applications for proposed works within the regional road right-of-way.
- Review and process excess load moving permit applications.
- Review and process special event and film permit applications.
- Review, recommend approval and co-coordinate regional road closures (full and partial closures) for all special events and construction on regional roads.
- Assist with the preparation of the operation budget.
- Analyze all user fees and make recommendations on the same.
- Utilize Hansen software to monitor road occupancy permits and excess load moving permits.
- Liaise with internal and external contacts as required.
What the role requires:
- Successful completion of a degree or diploma in Transportation/Civil Engineering Technology.
- 3 to 5 years relevant and progressive experience related to the management of a Regional road system. An equivalent combination of education and experience in traffic operations/safety will also be considered.
- Demonstrated skills in project management and traffic development.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the HTA and other relevant legislation, Planning Act, ITE, OPSD, TAC, OTM, HCM, and other related design and engineering standards and manuals.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Environmental Assessment process.
- Extensive knowledge of design standards, related codes, regulations, tendering/contract process and contract administration.
- Detailed knowledge of computerized traffic engineering applications and methodologies.
- Valid G driver’s license (in good standing) and access to own transportation.

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you’ll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you’ll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton worksite. The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.
It’s important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that we’re compliant with all regulations and policies.
