Job Description Summary

               

While keeping safety a number one priority, responsible for the supervision and operations control of the plant on one shift to meet Production Department goals within the Company policy, procedures and cost parameters.

 

Job Description-    Salary: $72,030.00 – $108,060.00

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Support the various shift teams in the Daily Risk Assessment process.  Track team engagement in safety activities and ensure monthly safety training is executed.  Complete incident investigations and root cause analysis to drive improvement.

Direct the processing activity in the plant which includes supervision of both the salaried and hourly work force in planning, equipment operation and repair, materials usage, scheduling of operations, training, etc.  Responsible for the quality, safety and sanitation in the plant.

Lead the plant’s continuous improvement efforts through coaching and execution of CI programs and processes.  Examples include DSC boards, Leader Standard Work, CIL/Centerlines and Health Checks.

Coordinate and implement the planned sanitation and housekeeping program to insure environment meets company and federal standards.

Train and supervise subordinates in safety and accident prevention practices.

Administer plant and human resource policies to assure satisfactory employee relations.

Work closely with Quality Assurance, Sanitation, Warehouse and Maintenance personnel, as well as other Team Leaders on shift.

Must assure, in controlling various production operations, steps are taken to remain in compliance with USDA and FDA food laws, company policies, and be familiar with laws that govern the Company’s conduct with its employees (EEO, OSHA, etc.)

Must be familiar with and take appropriate actions to efficiently control factors that affect recovery, grade yields, labor costs, labor utilization and material waste.

Knowledge of the function and basic operating characteristics of each piece of equipment under his/her control is necessary for proper control of quality and grade of product being produced and packaged.  Necessary adjustments are recommended to operators, and line settings are made to maintain highest level of productivity.

Responsible for proper training and development of all personnel and assuring that operators recognize discrepancies and make adjustments and/or repairs prior to any appreciable loss of productivity occurs.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages a team of supervisors who lead approximately 20-70 employees in the areas of Quality and Production. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include championing the shift safety culture; training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills
