SALARY: $11.50 – $17.25 Hourly

DESCRIPTION:
Enthusiastic, energetic, nurturing seasonal teaching assistants needed for cultural arts summer camp programs for children 5 to 15 years old. Most work located at Cary Arts Center, but one week at The Hive may be assigned. Working with assigned instructors in various camps throughout the summer provide opportunities to learn from different teaching styles and gain knowledge of art media and projects. Workdays will be 8 hours each between 8:30am and 5:00pm from June 13 through August 26.
TYPICAL TASKS:
• Set-up, clean-up, prepare, and organize classrooms and classroom materials;
• Greet and direct campers to assigned classrooms; assist with classroom supervision;
• Assist students with art processes and projects;
• Supervise students during outdoor morning and afternoon breaks, lunch and aftercare.
• Perform assigned tasks related to arts programming that may occur outside the classroom;
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Requires at least one year of experience working with children in an organized class, school, or daycare setting, or some college course work in youth education or field-related course of study.
MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be available to work camps beginning June 13.
• Must have ability to take direction, communicate effectively with staff and public.
• Prefer individuals who are enrolled in or have graduated from Elementary or Middle School Education teaching degree program.
• CPR/First Aide certification a plus.
