We are looking for a Tax and Compliance Accountant to join our team at Headquarters!
Key Duties Include
Essential duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. Other duties may be assigned.
- Performs work in a safe manner; promotes and fosters a safe work environment.
- Files monthly sales and use tax returns.
- Maintains sales tax exemption certificates.
- Conducts periodic audits to ensure all non-taxed sales have valid certificates on file.
- Advises Sales Support personnel on sales tax rates for all non-exempt sales.
- Completes Personal Property tax returns.
- Completes annual property, liability, and workers compensation insurance questionnaires.
- Sends Certificates of Insurance to customers as requested.
- Prepares annual Property Register detail.
- Completes the data tracker and other items as requested by external tax preparers and Group tax.
- Process new business license applications and maintains annual renewals.
- Maintains all vehicle (car, truck, and trailer) license plate registrations and renewals.
- Leads the collection of R&D tax credit information for the external tax preparers.
- Completes all governmental reporting (such as the Annual Survey of Manufacturers and Economic Surveys).
All employees have the following compliance obligations:
– Remain compliant with the Code of Conduct and Policies which includes the Product Compliance Policy.
– Ensure that all duties related to product compliance are adhered to in accordance with the Product Compliance Policy, Laws, Regulations, and markets demands.
– Responsible for all tasks to achieve compliance goals and demands of Compliance Management System.
– Must raise concerns related to the Compliance Management System to their supervisor, manager, any member of the Leadership Team, or through the confidential whistle blower service.
Qualifications
Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines is critical as well as strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax rules.
SAP experience is preferred.
Must have:
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year university and a minimum of three years’ experience in tax; manufacturing experience preferred
- Experience with business computer applications to include MS Office Suite, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. SAP or similar software experience preferred.
- Strong organizational skills; strong attention to detail; ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
Must be able to:
- Work in a team-based environment.
- Follow directions and get along well with others.
- Prioritize day-to-day tasks and long-term department goals.
- Make decisions, exercise judgment, and interface effectively with all levels of staff.
- Self-motivated individual with the desire to succeed
- Maintain strict confidence in sensitive information and demonstrate a high level of integrity.
