We are currently looking for a Tax Accountant II to join our growing tax department. In this position you will perform standard to moderately complex tax work requiring in-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and tax rules and regulations. This position prepares and analyzes tax records and reports, aids in the development and implementation of tax strategy, and provides information related to tax issues.

This is a hybrid-remote position reporting to the Madison, WI office. Candidates must reside in Wisconsin.
Responsibilities:
- Using established guidelines, prepares standard to moderately complex tax records, returns, reports, and other regulated materials.
- Analyzes possible solutions and assesses each using standard practices and procedures when preparing source input, parameter tables, and other details of the tax accounting system, tax reports, and other accounting related reports.
- Analyzes and reviews tax records and reports.
- Responds to requests from regulatory bodies for tax accounting information and provides financial information to support regulatory and other audits.
- Makes recommendations for tax accounting adjustments, procedural changes, and compliance with Alliant Energy’s procedures and various federal, state, and local regulations in all areas.
- Research issues related to application of GAAP, regulatory accounting, and tax requirements as applied to presentation of utility tax information.
- Implements regulatory accounting requirements.
- Performs various tasks which require a solid understanding of tax rules and regulations.
- Engage in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy’s Values and help deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.
Required Qualifications:
3 years technical and/or professional experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Accounting.
- Master’s degree or progress towards Master’s in Tax or Accounting.
- CPA or CPA eligible.
- Knowledge of common accounting and tax return preparation software including ERP, Microsoft Office and Thomson Reuters OneSource applications preferred.
- Understanding of tax depreciation methods and lives; ability to reconcile book/tax basis differences.
