Full-Time Talent and School Operations Associate
Job Description
The Partnership is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join the Partnership Operations Team. The primary responsibilities for this role will include helping to build a highly-effective cohort of teachers, school leaders, and home office staff for our organization and supporting schools to resolve high leverage staffing, budgetary, and operational obstacles to improving student achievement. The Associate’s responsibilities will require a strong focus on providing great customer service and candidate cultivation support in ways that maximize the impact of both talent management and school operations work across the Partnership schools and the Partnership home office.
Duties include:
Recruit, hire, and place a pool of effective teachers, school administrators and home office staff
• Play an active role in the recruitment of the highest-caliber candidates to work in Partnership schools, including through persistent advertising, candidate outreach, and candidate cultivation
• Be the consistently friendly and reliable face of the Partnership as you engage with candidates (through phone calls, interviews, meet-and-greet events, hiring fairs, and other occasions)
• Actively utilize an online applicant tracking system that holds candidate information and applications
• Post vacancies as requested to a variety of online locations, including universities, professional associations, career websites, social media
• Produce high-quality printed materials for a variety of events and audiences, such as hiring fairs, meet-and-greet events, interview days, and orientation/onboarding events
• Learn the policies and practices of the LAUSD hiring process in order to understand how the Partnership works as a partner with schools and LAUSD
• Communicate clearly and effectively with LAUSD staff, school principals and assistant principals, teachers, senior Partnership staff, and candidates for school site positions
• Play an active role in developing and implementing innovative ways to show appreciation for home office staff, such as through supporting our organizational culture initiative, considering creative recognition programs, helping plan social events, and so on
• Support the onboarding process for home office staff to ensure staff have the materials, equipment, and information they need in their new roles at the Partnership
• Support spotless record-keeping throughout the entire talent management cycle in order to ensure all parties have up-to-date information and no details fall through the cracks
• Maintain a high degree of respect, humility, and confidentiality when engaging with school staff, home office staff, and candidates throughout the talent management cycle
Retain Partnership Teachers
• Play a key role in onboarding of new teachers to the network by:
o Collaboratively planning a one-day New Hire Orientation in August before school begins,
in partnership with Academic Team facilitators
o Providing tools and templates to Partnership principals to aid in their own teacher onboarding efforts
o Match new hires with Partnership team members to make sure they have a point person in the network to reach out to
• Track various indicators for new hires to the network, from the onboarding process and through their first ~2 years in the network
• Develop and support implementation of innovative ways to show appreciation for school site staff (such as through winter and spring teacher appreciation treats/school visits)
Support Effective School Operations
• Support to schools and school leaders around budget development/strategy, facilities, textbooks, and a variety of other day-to-day operational issues and/or obstacles faced by our schools
• Build capacity of our schools through side-by-side support for school staff
• Coordinate with the district and other community organizations to leverage resources, trainings and other supports for school staff
• Advocate for our schools, navigate roadblocks, and seek approvals related to plans and strategies advanced by our school leaders
Track and analyze data in order to drive continuous improvement
• Utilize Excel, Google docs, and other web-based databases to maintain precise records
• Support data analysis around metrics that can help the Operations team better understand its impact on school site and home office effectiveness
• Maintain records of teachers’ and school site administrators’ completion of the LAUSD teacher evaluation system (Educator Support and Development: Teachers) using an online platform and available reports
• Collaboratively develop and maintain spreadsheets or other records of key indicators
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
• 1-3 years of experience in an education or professional setting
• Experience working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment; can adapt when managing multiple, shifting priorities; ease at managing competing demands and determining priorities independently
• Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work under pressure with a high degree of accuracy
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate complex ideas simply and succinctly
• Strong computer and technology skills; proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, Google docs, and interest in and ability to learn new platforms
• Ability to work collaboratively with other experienced professionals including school principals, assistant principals, teachers, Partnership colleagues, and candidates for any of these roles
• Ability to maintain discretion regarding confidential matters
• Is a true team player; willing to support team members as needed both on the Operations Team and across the organization for high-priority projects or events
• Strong belief in the Partnership’s mission, approach, and core values
• Reflective, life-long learner
• Hold a valid California driver’s license
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This is a year-round, full-time position. Compensation will be commensurate with experience. The Partnership offers a competitive benefits package, including health, vision and dental insurance, and a 403(b) retirement program.
