Full-Time Systems and Application Patch Manager
Job Description
Ball State University Information Technology is seeking a Systems and Application Patch Manager. In this role you be responsible for applying patches and updates to both operating systems and to enterprise applications. Working with internal team members within Information Technology and constituents across campus you will determine the cadence for patch installation. Using results from security scans of the environment you will be able to set the appropriate priority in order to secure Ball State’s enterprise resources. Position Function: Provide patch management for all enterprise systems and services including operating system and application patching. Optimize patch management and deployment for institutional resources. Coordinate patch deployment with functional units and other application owners. Work across areas within Information Technology managing patch levels for institutional services and systems.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university by date of appointment.
Or, in lieu of Bachelor’s degree: Associate’s degree plus an additional combination of education or experience in IT equivalent to two years.
Or, High school diploma or GED plus an additional combination of education or experience in IT equivalent to four years
Demonstrated technical knowledge in patch deployment and administering patch management solutions; at least two years of experience in server management; experience deploying, rolling back, and maintaining patches for both applications and operating systems; ability to communicate with functional and technical audiences describing changes and potential challenges.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups of individuals; must pass relevant related background/records checks; demonstrated exceptional writing skills; must be highly available and be willing to own responsibility for assuring continuity of enterprise systems, responding on a 24 hour-a-day, 365 day-a-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications: Extensive experience with patch management, patching solutions, and change management procedures; technical knowledge in troubleshooting technical problems, log analysis, and system configuration; expertise in communicating with technical and functional areas describing technical details for a wide audience; general server management skills for both on premise installations along with major cloud-based vendors; extensive experience with enterprise patch management.

The minimum salary for this position is: $60,000.00.
