Job Description
The Trust team Leader is a player coach who manages his / her own book of business while supervising the account management, trust administration, and estate settlement activities of three to four trust officers. Responds to requests for advice from relationship managers, trust officers and administrators in various fiduciary matters, including trust administration, estate settlement, fiduciary income taxation, and estate taxation.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manges a team of 3 to 4 trust Officers.
- Serve as Chairperson of the Trust Administration Committee (TAC), which performs the following responsibilities: consider trust discretionary distribution requests, review beneficiary death and trust termination notices; conduct annual administrative reviews; and consider other matters requiring the approval of the TAC. As a member of the TAC, conducts annual administrative regulatory reviews and annual Principal & Income Act reviews, and oversee the conduct of those reviews by the account officers and the reviewing members of the TAC.
- Works closely with the Internal Auditors & the FDIC during audits on all trust related questions. Supervises the annual review of fiduciary accounts that hold real estate and the annual review of irrevocable life insurance trusts.
- Conduct pre-acceptance reviews of trusts, estates and other types of accounts requiring approval prior to the Bank’s acceptance of its appointment
- Monitor litigation, including preparing the quarterly Summary of Litigation that is reported to the Bank’s General Counsel and the Trust Committee.
- Coordinate the preparation of presentation materials for the quarterly Trust Committee meetings.
- Act as coordinator with Division’s tax preparation vendor to ensure that fiduciary tax returns are prepared accurately and filed on a timely basis.

- Ability to apply knowledge and experience to Trust & Estate problems and make prudent decisions
REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- JD or CTFA preferred
- 5-7years experience as a Trust Officer and a minimum of 2 years experience as a Trust Team Leader
Skills/Knowledge:
- Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated personal trust administration experience, preferably in the trust department of a bank or law firm
- Understanding of trust administration, estate settlement, estate planning, estate taxation, and fiduciary income taxation
Working Conditions
- Hybrid position with a balance of time spent in office and remotely.
- The position is based in Saugus with some time in Boston required for Divisional Meetings.
