Position Purpose
Connect sustainability initiatives across the organization, communicating with a variety of stakeholders to advance ongoing sustainability projects that span environmental, social, and annual reporting concerns. Organizes complex timelines, budgets, and employee responsibilities in a cohesive strategy. Acts as a source of logistical clarity for the sustainability team to maximize the efficiency of other team members in their primary roles. Focus on sustainability project planning, execution and evaluation to support the long-term interests of the Company. Collaborate with the sustainability team to recommend l carbon reduction strategies in Company operations to meet voluntary and mandatory goals. Use knowledge of company-wide sustainability goals, plans, and initiatives to effectively facilitate collection and reporting of key sustainability metrics. Advise stakeholders on the logistics of sustainability topics such as reporting trends, goals, climate change, and greenhouse gas emissions. Research issues, projects, methodologies and viability of sustainability initiatives. Monitor and evaluate the Company’s sustainability projects to ensure they are cost effective and support the Company’s mission.
Principal Accountabilities
40% Manage the Company’s environmental and people-focused sustainability projects such as carbon emission reduction initiatives, sustainability communications, waste reduction, water efficiency, environmental conservation, WELL and LEED building certifications, and vendor engagement project teams. Establish action plans with defined objectives and responsibilities to ensure the success of sustainability projects. Coordinate with project team members to set timelines and communicate progress. Ensure projects are completed on-time, within budget, and produce quality results. Evaluate pilots and initial project results, identify problems and potential solutions and work toward desired outcomes. Oversee progress to ensure compliance with policies, standards, regulations or laws. Monitor progress against sustainability strategies, objectives and performance targets. Provide sustainability input on inter-departmental initiatives such as DEI, wellness, employee engagement
40% Facilitate the Company’s annual sustainability reporting process for voluntary reporting such as required for reporting frameworks (CDP, TCFD) third party rating agencies (S&P CSA, Bloomberg Gender Equality Index, Sustainalytics) and global (GRI) and sector specific metric standards (SASB, EEI/AGA) and the company’s annual sustainability report. This includes coordinating data gathering and verification, assurance processes, and communicating reporting timelines, user trainings, and sustainability software system improvements. Act as a subject matter expert on the Company’s sustainability software for reporting.
5% Gather information from appropriate company sources to assist in the development of reports, presentations, or proposals. Prepare operational progress or status reports.
5% Research contemporary sustainability issues, concerns or stakeholder interests. Adjust appropriate projects to address potential gaps.
5% Drive communication and partnerships with external organizations to support sustainability efforts. Assist in development and implementation of communication strategies to publicize the company’s sustainability effort and promote broad awareness of sustainability initiatives.
5% Drive a culture of sustainability through organizational communications and education using the company’s sustainability vision, mission, and principles. Help to build these principles into decision making, such as short and long-range business planning, capital planning and operations planning.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience. Sustainability management and project management certifications preferred. 3 years of proven sustainability project management experience desired. Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and PC skills. Ability to make detail-oriented independent decisions and demonstrate a high level of initiative and proactive approach to problem-solving. Ability to interact in a professional manner with customers. Knowledge of key company business practices and processes. Exhibits sound judgment and professionalism in all aspects of the position.
