Job Description
- Perform survey work on complex construction projects.
- Supervise survey crews and junior technicians.
- Make independent decisions.
- Review contractor’s survey submittals and provide checks of their construction layouts in the field.
- Drive and place survey stakes and operate surveying instruments.
- Cut brush.
- Run materials tests and inspect roadway/bridge projects.
- Ensure all work is done in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Serve as a survey crew member.
- Surveying experience using surveying equipment, instruments, levels, data collectors, and GPS equipment.
- Solid math skills using with math functions including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Experience performing highway construction stakeouts.
- Experience conducting independent, moderately complex surveying.
- Computer skills using Microsoft Office and drafting software.
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
- Good eyesight to use testing instruments, read plan details, make accurate field measurements, and inspect roadway and structure components.
- Ability to perform entry level technical work on materials and perform sampling testing and inspections to determine specifications.
- Ability to exercise limited decision making and judgment.
- Ability to safely perform manual tasks involving the use of bush axes and other tools on steep slopes and rough terrain.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions, terrains, and hours.
- Strength to lift 50 pounds.
- Safety toe shoes.
- Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related field, and
- 7+ years relevant technician-level experience; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
- You will be exposed to high traffic volumes, work at heights over water and traffic, and climb on bridge substructures/superstructures.
