The Challenge
We are looking for an entry-Level Survey Engineering Technician to join our Randolph County engineering team.
 
In this role, you will:
    • Support senior technicians and engineers in route location surveying.
    • Perform standardized and non-standardized tasks and assignments compiling, analyzing, computing, editing, and processing field data.
    • Apply limited decision making and use good engineering/surveying judgment.
    • Perform surveying/engineering calculations and computations.
    • Work under supervision of senior technicians and engineers as a part of an engineering survey crew.
    • Lead basic field and office technical assignments relating to highway route location project surveys.
    • Perform survey instrument operations and CADD/computer operations in the surveying and creation of plan sheets and survey data including hydraulic surveys, complex horizontal alignments, setting photogrammetric controls, property condemnations, and Global Positioning System (GPS) field work.
    • Operate Electronic Engineering Survey Equipment and CADD equipment.
    • Complete Courthouse research.
    • Maintain safety and lead by example.
 
What You Bring
    • Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems.
    • You work best in a team environment to complete assignments.
    • Customer service experience related to resolving problems involving explaining complicated engineering concepts to customer groups.
    • Knowledge of standards and specifications and plan reading experience.
    • Computer skills using laptops, iPads, and software.
    • Good verbal and written communications skills.
    • Ability to establish positive lines of communication between technicians, engineers, and contractors, and apply safety philosophy and program to all operations.
    • Safety toe shoes.
Education & Experience
    • Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or a related field; or
    • An equivalent combination of training and experience.

If we don’t find any qualified candidates with an Associate’s degree we will consider you for a trainee for the role!
If you are selected as a trainee, you will be hired at $34,000. A six-month salary progression will be awarded for 24 months upon successful completion of all trainee steps. A raise to $35,530 will be given at 6 months, $37,129 at 12 months, $38,577 at 18 months, and $40,081 at the 24th month.
