Position Overview
The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Support Service Worker for the Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center located in Anna, Illinois to assist other dietary services staff with the preparation and serving of food items for individuals. Performs cleaning, and maintenance work and maintains sanitary standards of kitchen, food service area, and storerooms. Dates, labels, and stores dry stock and assists with stocking food items.
Job Responsibilities
1. Prepares carts consisting of dishes, plates, bowls, glasses, silverware, serving utensils, adaptive equipment, coffee cups, and meal tickets for use in the Living Units.
2. Cleans and sanitizes pots, pans, and cooking utensils manually and in a dishwashing machine.
3. Moves food items from carts to freezer, from freezer to shelving, and from preparation area to carts for transportation to units.
4. Serves meals, salads, and desserts to individuals.
5. Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of High School supplemented by six (6) months experience in the support service functional area to which assigned.
Conditions of Employment
1. Per P.A. 98-0566 Requires the ability to complete a Food Handlers training course and obtain a Food Handlers Certification within 30 days of employment.
2. Requires skill in the basic operation of machinery and equipment found in the assigned area.
3. Requires the ability to instruct others in simple methods and procedures common to the area.
4. Requires the ability to perform heavy physical work.
5. Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends, and holidays.
6. Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
7. Requires the ability to travel.
8. Requires the ability to pass the IDHS background check.
9. Requires the ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
10. Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
