Position Overview
The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire a Support Service Worker for the Chester Mental Health Center located in Chester, Illinois to follow established procedures and perform general laundry functions including marking patients’ clothing and institution linens. Assists in fitting and ward clothing operations. Marks and delivers clothing, picks up soiled linens and clothing, sorts and folds clean linens and clothing. Prepares clothing bundles for patients.
Job Responsibilities
1.Follows established procedures and performs general laundry functions including marking patients’ clothing and institution linens.
2.Marks and delivers clothing.
3.Sorts and folds clean linens and clothing and places on carts for transportation to proper units.
4.Prepares clothing bundles for patients including patients personal clothing when discharged.
5.Prepares clothing bundles for patients including patients personal clothing when discharged.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of High School supplemented by six months experience in the support service functional area to which assigned.
Conditions of Employment
1.Requires ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
2.Requires ability to perform basic operation of machinery and equipment found in the clothing area.
3.Requires ability to perform heavy physical work pushing/pulling carts weighing up to 400 lbs. with assistance.
4.Requires ability to stand for long periods of time.
5.Requires ability to observe changes in patients’ behavior while delivering and/or picking up clothing.
6.Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
7.Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
8.Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance
Work Hours: Mon – Fri, 11:00am – 7:00pm Laundry
