Full-Time Supervisor – Manufacturing Operations

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, our client is looking for a Supervisor who will ensure the smooth operation of our client’s production processes, oversee shift changes, and maintain safety, production, and quality. This is an afternoon shift-based position where the candidate will be overseeing all levels of operation for that part of the day. Core Responsibilities:
- Plans, directs, and oversees daily production operations while anticipating and troubleshooting production challenges
- Supports and resolves any scheduling and HR based issues for the afternoon shift and midnight shift
- Supports and integrates new team members for both shifts – both shifts are small
- Supports the integration of new processes, equipment, systems and improvements/repairs to facility
- The position is a hands on role – runs and assists in processes as needed to fully utilize and understand all the parts of the operation
- Develops and helps train, clarifying and communicating job expectations, appraising job results, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees – if needed
- Troubleshoots production processes and equipment as needed; works with Management and Maintenance to resolve more significant issues.
- Leads and advocates for a safe work environment and become a member of the JHSC
- Monitors and reports on production performance as well as general issues, maintains and approves HR data (time keeping, absenteeism, tardiness, etc.) via the Company HRIS system
- Recommends measures to Management to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
- Measures performance and participates in/helps implement continuous improvement projects
The successful candidate will have:
- A mature disposition and a strong ability to foster positive employee relations by communicating effectively with peers, employees, and Management
- A strong work ethic and a “hands-on” approach to get the job done
- Proven leadership skills with a record of accomplishment in successfully coaching and developing employees
- Proven ability to work autonomously; using critical thinking skills to solve problems and ensure production continues to run smoothly
- Working knowledge of workplace health & safety (WHMIS, Personal Protective Equipment, etc.), manufacturing processes and systems
- A hands on approach to leading, working with our team, making product.
Required Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma in a related field, an asset
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a lead hand or supervisor in a manufacturing and/or operational setting
- Experience in managing and improving processes, production planning, lean principles and tools, health and safety regulations, and quality controls, considered an asset
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to build and maintain lasting relationships
- Strong problem-solving skills with a high degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability
- Must be comfortable working afternoons and/or late evenings
- Must have or be willing to obtain a working knowledge of digitally controlled equipment, automation, printing, packaging equipment, and be able to read and interpret dimensional specifications, use measuring gauges
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Excellent attention to detail and an ability to maintain production quality
- Excellent computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite, Sharepoint, Communications platforms (zoom, teams, etc.). Experience with HRIS and ERP systems, an asset
