Full-Time Supervisor, Fleet Services

Job Description

  • Supervise the procurement, distribution, maintenance and financial management of fleet vehicles and equipment that support the delivery of programs and services within the Region of Peel, including the implementation and assessment of new initiatives, practices and policies to ensure quality customer services to internal corporate clients.
  • Ensures the Regional owned fleet vehicles and equipment within the Public Works portfolio are well maintained and meet all safety and other legislative compliance
  • Responsible for the development and oversight of a $25 million budget including capital and operations.
  • Develop longer term maintenance and development plans for Public Works vehicles and equipment, prepare and administer operating/capital budgets, develop life cycle analysis, provide long term replacement reserve fund planning, implement the procurement of replacement equipment, administer service and supply contracts for the fleet section
  • Motivate and provide guidance to staff in providing a safe, reliable and well-maintained Fleet of vehicles and equipment to our internal clients.
  • Responsible for the procurement, distribution, maintenance and financial management of Region owned Fleet assets, including life cycle analysis and long term replacement Reserve fund planning.
  • Responsible for procuring and administering contracts with external suppliers and service providers
  • Regular liaising and communication with external agencies (MTO, MOE, Driveclean etc.) to ensure compliance with legislated requirements.
  • Review work flow logistics, develops plans for the group and makes recommendations to Manager on project priorities, resource requirements and related cost implications, provide leadership and direction to reporting staff

What the role requires: 

  • University Degree or College Diploma plus 5 years of relevant working experience.
  • 3 years of experience in a leadership/supervisor role along with direct experience supervising unionized staff
  • Understanding and work experience in asset management, life cycle analysis and related financial processes
  • Experience and understanding of operating and updating annual budgets
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written communication skills and technical knowledge in the Fleet Industry
  • Understanding of the Public Works Collective Agreement and how to interpret it
  • Previous leadership experience

Work Mode & Job Location:

In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 2 Copper Road, Brampton, ON worksite.  The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.

 

Hours of Work: 35 Hours per week plus on call coverage 1x every 4 weeks.
