Internship Summer Intern
Job Description
The Groundlings Theatre & School is inviting currently enrolled college students to apply for our Summer 2023 Internship for college credit.
The Groundlings Theatre & School in West Hollywood is a renown improv theatre and school that began in 1974 by its founder, Gary Austin. Many talented performers have trained here and have successfully made careers in the entertainment industry, such as Will Ferrell, Maya Rudolph, Lisa Kudrow, Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Jim Rash, and Phil LaMarr.
The internship program is designed to give students experience in office work, research, collaboration, marketing, and professional theatre development. The benefits of learning to work with other departments and thinking on your feet will give students better communication, time management, informed decision making, and understanding of the professional work environment and etiquette.
Here are just a few examples of some of the tasks interns work on:
- Sales reports using Tessitura, a theatre software program
- Marketing outreach
- Editing show programs for errors
- Working with the general public at shows, taking tickets and answering questions for patrons
Interns get some fun perks too:
- Free tickets to Main and Sunday Company shows
- One free class (based on availability and section)
The internship program is 10-12 weeks, approximately 24 hours per week. Students with customer service and/or theatre experience are a plus. Black, Indigenous, and People of Color are strongly encouraged to apply.
