Position Purpose:
Perform work with personnel within the Substation Department and other internal departments and external entities for the purpose of ensuring safe and reliable substation construction, maintenance, and operational activities. Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot substation equipment including protection and control systems, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), line switching and voltage regulating equipment, capacitor banks, battery systems, AMI, and a variety of communication systems. Ensure all work activities are performed in accordance with Company, state and federal regulations and guidelines. Perform duties and maintain working relationships with employees, contractors and vendors in accordance with the Company’s Core Principles. This position falls under the Department of Transportation drug testing requirements.
Principal Accountabilities:
50% Perform substation construction and maintenance activities required to accomplish assigned projects. Review monthly substation inspections to ensure all abnormalities are corrected to maintain integrity and operational reliability of equipment.
20% Perform inspections and maintenance on all substation equipment and distribution equipment including but not limited to line switching devices, voltage regulators, and capacitors.
20% Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot the operational integrity of SCADA equipment, communication systems, and interposing wiring to controlled devices. Maintain AMI equipment within substations.
10% Provide status updates on assigned projects to ensure project completion within budget and schedule constraints. Maintain and monitor activities and documentation in accordance with the Company’s maintenance policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
• Associate of Science Degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology or a curriculum compatible with the requirements of this position or equivalent related educational background.
• Reside within a geographical area defined as being a 25 mile radius or 45 minutes travel time from the applicable operating center, in any direction within one year of employment.
• Possess within 6 months of employment and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license to operate commercial registered vehicles (CDL Class B), based on requirements of the State of New Hampshire and/or the State where the employee resides.
• Must be available for duty during times of system emergencies.
