Full-Time Student Accounts Representative
Job Description
Elmira College is a private liberal arts College located in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Seeking innovative professionals from diverse backgrounds to fill the position of Student Accounts Representative to join the Business Office team.
The Student Accounts Representative is responsible for taking in all monies and crediting appropriate departments/accounts. S/he will support the smooth operations of the business office by providing customer service, gathering cash, and creating deposits for scholarships, loans, development, and miscellaneous accounts. The Student Accounts Representative also administers the meal card system for students and employees.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Collects cash and deposits and posts transactions to accounts;
- Makes the daily deposit of collections; verifies transactions received balance with the transactions recorded;
- Authorizes online tuition payments (PayPal, NetPay, Nelnet, PayMyTuition);
- Receives and verifies any bank statement deposits made by outside vendors (VA, wires, etc.);
- Provides front-desk customer service which includes but is not limited to, answering phones, greeting patrons to Business Office, answering questions, check cashing, and student account inquiries;
- Performs safe reconciliation and replenishment weekly;
- Runs weekly cash receipt report for Comptroller;
- Performs monthly student bank reconciliation; Adds funds to student dining Flex accounts
- Invoices and posts payments for health insurance billings, employee housing and lease agreement billings;
- Assists Bursar in management of current and past due tuition accounts. Submits delinquent accounts to collections agency based on school policy. Helps students/parents understand billing of tuition;
- Assists with billing of Part Time and Graduate Students;
- Approves transcript requests, maintains teacher credit log, processes employee/dependent tuition waivers, Term 3 trip deposits and other student payment functions as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Associates degree (required); Bachelor’s degree a plus;
- Minimum 3 years of experience performing related business duties (i.e., check cashing, posting transactions, etc.) (required);
- Experience working with the public.

BASIS OF PAY: Hourly

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment with frequent public contact and interruptions. Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; Sitting for extended periods of time; to occasionally bend, kneel, reach, and twist; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.
