The Challenge
We are looking for a Staff Engineer to join our Technical Services team that provides project/program management services, professional contracts, analysis and design functions, and other technical support services for all transportation modes.
Our team includes the following units doing work from early preconstruction through construction:
    • Environmental Analysis
    • Environmental Policy
    • Geotechnical
    • Hydraulics
    • Location and Surveys
    • Photogrammetry
    • Professional Services Management
    • Project Management
    • Roadway Design
    • Utilities
 
In this role you will:
    • Complete research and analysis, resource planning, and formulation of recommendations.
    • Guide transitions to implementation.
    • Develop communication strategies.
    • Encourage change management through performance tracking and operational support.
    • Work on priority initiatives in a collaborative relationship with our Division Director and their team.
    • Work with minimal/no direct supervision.
 
What You Bring
    • Demonstrated experience leading change to achieve desired outcomes.
    • Knowledge of professional engineering, techniques, practices and procedures; NCDOT organization, budget planning, and skills applying this knowledge.
    • Experience developing, interpreting, and administering policies, procedures, and regulations.
    • Experience establishing and managing priorities, developing work schedules, monitoring goal progress and schedules, and tracking data and activities.
    • Experience anticipating and resolving problems, working cooperatively with others, influencing others to achieve results, and enhancing organizational effectiveness and project delivery.
Education and Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, and
    • 4+ years of relevant experience; or
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
Note
    • We may require you to be registered as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
