Job Opening: Spring Green Farm Administration and Business Development Coordinator
The Savanna Institute invites applications for a Farm Administration and Business Development Assistant to advance agroforestry by supporting the record keeping and administrative elements of the Savanna Institute’s Spring Green Campus and Demonstration Farms. This position will work closely with the Spring Green Campus Farm Director, Demonstration Farm Director, and other Savanna Institute staff, community partners, collaborating farmers/landowners, and farm visitors.

Job Description
Hours: full-time
Location: Spring Green, WI
Start Date: May 6, 2024
Salary: $48,000 – $52,000 per year
- This position is eligible for the Institute’s benefits package. Benefits for full-time employees include 30 days paid time off per year, 3 weeks of paid family leave, a health reimbursement arrangement that can be applied to insurance premiums and approved healthcare costs, a 401(k) retirement savings plan, and a monthly home office stipend.
- This position reports to the Spring Green Campus Farm Director
- This position will primarily be on-site work in Spring Green, WI, with remote work opportunities
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist in the development, maintenance and analysis of the Spring Green Campus (SGC) annual Anticipated Management Plans for seasonal farm work
- Maintain management logs for all research, livestock, crop and custom farm work operations at SGC
- Assist in the maintenance, documentation and completion of all required farm certifications as needed
- Assist in the development and maintenance of enterprise budgets and custom farm operation tools
- Manage the agricultural land and building leases and associated annual invoicing with local agricultural partners associated with SGC
- Maintain accounting and invoicing on all farm operation custom work and crop/livestock sales
- Develop and maintain equipment and field supply inventories, maintenance records, and registrations
- Develop tracking system for employee safety trainings and certifications
- Occasionally engage in seasonal field work at SGC projects to include: Tree planting and care, weed management, livestock care, crop harvesting, etc.
Required Qualifications
- General knowledge of farming systems and associated record keeping
- Experience with record keeping and data analysis
- Experience with general accounting and budgeting
- Familiarity with Google Suite
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds
- Ability to work outside, long hours in challenging conditions
- Commitment to participating in an open and collaborative environment
- Openness to participating in the development and establishment of new systems
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in farm administration and management documentation
- Experience in organic or other food/farming certification processes
- Management of land and building lease agreements and invoicing
