Immediate opening for Specialized Advocacy Program Coordinator

Mission Statement: In collaboration with local partners and all affected by abuse, TTD creates innovative responses and mobilizes our community to promote safety and challenge systems of oppression and violence.

Job Summary: The Specialized Advocacy Program Coordinator is responsible for maintaining program oversight for TTD’s specialized advocacy program for victims of domestic and sexual violence, dating violence, human trafficking, and stalking in all TTD outreach offices. This position requires regular work in the community, in the TTD Outreach Offices and court and in correctional settings.  Travel throughout Cumberland County is required.  This is a full-time exempt position starting at $21.25 per hour.  Through These Doors offers a generous benefit package for all eligible employees including full health and dental coverage, earned time off, sick time, life insurance and pension.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Ensure consistent delivery of quality direct services for Through These Doors’ specialized services including but not limited to abuse in later life, incarcerated women, human trafficking, and multi-cultural engagement.
  2. Engage with community partners either directly or through specialized advocacy staff to further the goals of a coordinated community response to domestic violence as it relates to specialized issues.
  3. Provide on-going support and supervision for specialized advocacy program staff including daily interactions, regular site visits, workplan/evaluation development and oversight, and HR actions such as coaching, performance improvement plans, and corrective action plans.
  4. Refer and link victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence, dating violence, human trafficking, and stalking to all TTD services including but not limited to emergency shelter, groups, legal resources, and face-to-face interactions.
  5. Work with all who reach out to TTD to support and improve their understanding of domestic and sexual violence, dating violence, human trafficking, and stalking, especially as it relates to abuse in later life, the experiences of incarcerated women, human trafficking, and multi-cultural engagement.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, & OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Associate’s degree and three year’s relevant professional experience; Bachelor’s preferred
  2. Successful completion of TTD’s helpline training, and participation in on-going education and training (post-hire)
  3. Valid Maine driver’s license and automobile insurance
  4. Satisfactory responses from government agencies to required background checks
  5. Three years progressive, comparable work experience
  6. Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues of domestic and sexual violence, dating violence, human trafficking, and stalking
  7. Supervision and mentoring experience
  8. Organizational and program leadership experience
  9. Effective written and oral communication skills
  10. Public speaking and group facilitation skills
  11. Basic computer competency
