Full-Time Specialist, Organizational Development and Learning

Job Description

  • Assist the Organizational Development and Learning Advisors in the design, development, scheduling, implementation, delivery and evaluation of large-scale organizational leadership and/or core competency programs and services.
  • Provide expertise in the prioritization of leadership and core competency development and contribute to the organization’s direction for leadership development using employee input, best practice research and organizational priorities as a guide.
  • Use curriculum design expertise to expertly guide design and development of, asynchronous and synchronous, learning modules and associated knowledge checks, job aids and supporting documentation.
  • Analyze content, purpose and learning objectives for diverse corporate projects and use best practice research to recommend curriculum design and delivery methodology and tools (e.g., virtual learning, e-learning, job aids, social learning, instructor-led training).
  • Act as a key representative for consultation on corporate-wide learning initiatives, prioritizing and maintaining a portfolio of learning projects to support the organization.
  • Work with the Organizational Development and Learning Advisors to maintain operational leadership and core competency programs and services.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with internal subject matter experts, project owners, and vendors to ensure learning deliverables as well as communication and roll-out strategies meet required objectives and timelines.
  • Provide expert interpretation of training requirements, timing and approach for legislated, compliance and mandatory employee training using research of best practices and leveraging organizational development and learning networks.
  • Review and evaluate external training resources and make decisions regarding vendor choices to ensure the quality and effectiveness of training offered and optimize the spending of budgeted training dollars.
  • Liaise with external agencies, municipalities and other organizations to identify opportunities for partnership.

 

What the role requires:

  • University degree in Adult Education, Human Resources or equivalent education; with at least five (5) years progressive experience in organizational development and learning. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Advanced experience with design, development, implementation and administration of organizational development programs and services.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting in-person and virtual live facilitation and training for leaders and employees.
  • Demonstrated experience with curriculum design for instructor-led, virtual and asynchronous e-learning.
  • Demonstrated experience using e-learning authoring software (e.g., Articulate 360, Articulate Rise).
  • Experience in project management, communications plan creation, client consultation, facilitation and evaluation.
  • Experience with a variety of asynchronous learning content platforms preferred, e.g. LinkedIn Learning, Coursera, Skillsoft.
  • Travel to Regional worksites based on operational needs.

 

Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated needs assessment and organizational development consultation experience.
  • Demonstrated curriculum design experience.
  • Technology-savvy with comfort to learn new technologies and applications
  • Vendor management acumen.
  • Demonstrated confidentiality, tact and diplomacy.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.

 

Nice to have: 

  • Experience collaborating on large projects with multiple stakeholders (internal or external).
  • Experience in project management, change management, and communications planning.
  • Knowledge of program evaluation methods to develop performance measures and report on program outcomes.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems.
  • Experience creating and facilitating team effectiveness programming.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for identifying training needs, developing solutions, and logically organizing complex information.
  • Awareness of various psychometric and team effectiveness tools (e.g., DISC, StrengthsFinder).

Work Location: In this role, you’ll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you’ll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the 7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga worksite. The frequency and location of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.

 

It’s important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that we’re compliant with all regulations and policies.
