POSITION SUMMARY
The Product Specialist supports multiple Account Executives and Solution Architects in selling network/security/collaboration products. This position requires extensive communication with internal and external customers as well as vendors and the distribution channel. Exceptional customer service and responsiveness are vital requirements for this position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate pre-sales activities i.e., customer/vendor conference calls and web meetings
- Communicate and collaborate with sales and presales architects
- Collect and organize customer requirements
- Conduct product research
- Complete product configuration requests
- Validate configuration accuracy by utilizing tools and resources to ensure configuration and pricing accuracy
- Understand vendor promotions and pricing incentives
- Submit vendor deal registrations
- Manage details specific to account requirements such as, but not limited to: technical requirements, support expectations
- Quote traditional hardware/software bill of material along with SaaS consumption and managed services
- Engage with internal account executives, vendor field account executives, and clients in everyday business operations
- Manage a multi-vendor portfolio of offerings and gain a deep understanding of their processes
- Promote services, offerings, tools, and technology solutions
- Review EOL product announcements and assist the contracts renewals team in identifying upgrade opportunities
- Maintain a well-organized, electronic filing and follow-up system for proposals and quotations
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with appropriate manufacturer representatives, vendors, and corporate business partners within the IT industry
- Identify potential sales prospects
- Participate in vendor/product training
- Achieve and maintain industry-standard certifications
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATION
- Knowledge of networking, voice, and data center-related products
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and interruptions with minimal impact on productivity
- Proven demonstration of administrative skills including excellent communication, time management, organizational, and follow up skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (strong Excel)
- Ability to work well on the pressure with deadlines and multiple projects in flight
- Strong desire and ability to work in a collaborative team dynamic
- Ability to solve problems and negotiate
- High level of independent judgment and initiative
- Ability to solve problems and negotiate
- Comfortable working under deadline pressure on productivity
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in a business or IT-related field is preferred or three years of strong experience in the IT product/services industry
