Job Description

At Stitch Fix, our goal is to help our customers look great and feel great about themselves by revolutionizing how people shop. Whether it’s helping someone dress for success at a new job or taking the stress out of packing for a family vacation, we fix clients’ closets – and they love us for it!

We’ve built unique, innovative software for merchandising, warehouse and inventory management, remote styling, and logistics. We leverage vast amounts of client data to make decisions throughout the company. All of this results in a simple, powerful offering to our clients and a very successful business. We believe we are only scratching the surface of our opportunity, and we’re looking for incredible people to contribute!

Software Engineer, Account Protection

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Stitch Fix Account Protection engineering team is looking for a creative, mindful, empathetic, and self-aware software engineer to join our team to help us solve problems for the business. We build and maintain systems responsible for client account protection and loss prevention.

Your team will collaborate with stakeholders like security, loss prevention, and product to define the scope of projects, and plan deliverables. You will work with team members to take advantage of learning and growth opportunities in tech and product through real day-to-day work. You will impact the business in tangible, visible ways and always have a seat at the table.

We prioritize fast iteration without compromising quality while maintaining an attention to detail that creates the personalization Stitch Fix is known for. We are a distributed team that collaborates & pair-programs across 4 time-zones, and we love building relationships that enable everyone to learn & ask questions.  With a strong focus on growth and personal development, Stitchfix is the ideal place to develop your skills in an environment that is built on mutual trust and respect.

YOU’RE EXCITED ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY BECAUSE…

  • We work collaboratively as a distributed team—we are a primarily remote team and we use GitHub, Slack, and video conferencing extensively to collaborate.
  • You will partner with your team to help set project scope.
  • You will participate in technical design discussions and remove blockers.
  • You will iterate on our agile-inspired process to help us build better software as a cohesive team.
  • Our workflow depends on testing and CI—we’re working with the usual Ruby gems like Rspec, Pacts and others for unit and feature tests and use CircleCI to bring it all together.

WE’RE EXCITED ABOUT YOU BECAUSE…

  • Are enthusiastic about technology
  • Are motivated by solving problems and finding creative solutions
  • Are respectful, empathetic, and curious
  • Thrive in collaborative teams with a shared goal
  • Believe in autonomy & taking initiative
  • Have roughly 3+ years of professional programming experience.
  • Are comfortable working independently to build full-stack features with Ruby on Rails
  • Might have experience building software for an ecommerce company in fraud systems
  • Might have experience with microservice architectures
  • Might have experience with Postgres, Redis and/or RabbitMQ

WHY YOU’LL LOVE WORKING AT STITCH FIX

  • We are a group of people who are bright, kind and motivated by challenge. You can be your authentic self here, and are empowered to encourage others to do the same!
  • We are a successful, fast-growing company at the forefront of tech and fashion, redefining retail for the next generation
  • We are a technologically and data-driven business
  • We are committed to our clients and connected through our vision of “Transforming the way people find what they love”
  • We love solving problems, thinking creatively and trying new things
  • We believe in autonomy & taking initiative
  • We are challenged, developed and have meaningful impact
  • We take what we do seriously. We don’t take ourselves seriously
  • We have a smart, experienced leadership team that wants to do it right & is open to new ideas
  • We offer competitive compensation packages and comprehensive health benefits
  • You will be proud to say that you work for Stitch Fix and will know that the work you do brings joy to our clients every day
