We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Software Engineer within our GSG/Machinery  team to help support our machining  business.  Did you know we have been revolutionizing the sleep industry since 1883?  That’s right!  In fact, we hold the original patent on a spiral steel coil bed spring, filed way back in 1885.  Since then, we have been an industry leader in guaranteeing you get the best sleep possible.  If you join our team, your work will ensure people across the world have a little more comfort in their lives.

As a Software Engineer you will have the opportunity to collaborate, design, and troubleshoot components for new and existing machines.  Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by helping us stay at the forefront of the industry.  The team you will be working with is collaborative, and values work-life balance while also meeting deadlines.

This position will see their code come to life in machines, so an interest in using programs to move machines is a must in this role.

So, what will you be doing as a Software Engineer?

• Designing, programming, and troubleshooting of prototype and existing machines HMI
• Take knowledge of programs and integrate into new components for machines
• Designing coordinated motion systems using:
  • MS operating systems (i.e. CE, Win 7, Win 10)
  • Internet of Things (IoT)
  • MS Visual Basic, MS Visual C++, MS c#
  • OPC Server
  • MS Databases
  • Network Architecture

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

• Hands on experience in troubleshooting servo systems, electro-mechanical systems, and test engineering
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
• Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical departments
• Self-motivation, organized, and attentive to detail

Things we consider a plus:

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS)
• 2-3 years of Programming experience
• Willing to travel domestically and internationally, and communicate and interact effectively with customers and suppliers
