Environmental Peacebuilding Organization – Posted by info@environmentalpeacebuilding.org Anywhere

Job Description

Social Inclusion Volunteer Research Opportunity

The Environmental Law Institute is seeking Visiting Researchers (graduate degree holders or professionals), Law Clerks (current law students), and Research Interns (current or recent undergraduates) to support an evaluation assessing social inclusion in environmental programming. The evaluation explores the extent to which environmental projects address gender, Indigenous Peoples and local communities (IPLCs), youth, and other historically marginalized groups; the modalities for inclusion; and the impacts of inclusion on project success. This evaluation builds on a previous evaluation completed by the Environmental Law Institute on environmental programming in fragile and conflict-affected situations; as such, it interrogates inclusion of marginalized groups in fragile and conflict-affected situations vis-à-vis non-fragile situations.

Researchers are also requested to spend at least one-fifth of their time supporting the Environmental Peacebuilding Association Secretariat with core responsibilities.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Perform qualitative and/or quantitative research, analysis, writing, and editing related to gender, youth, Indigenous Peoples, and inclusion of other marginalized groups in environmental programming
  • Participate in weekly coordination meetings (via video conferencing)
  • Support core tasks for the Environmental Peacebuilding Association Secretariat, such as identifying relevant resources for newsletters and website

Specific environmental experience is not mandatory. The work will be conducted remotely.

  • Have a strong desire to gain knowledge of the environmental field, as well as interest in natural resource management and/or peacebuilding
  • Be focused, independent, reliable, and meticulous
  • Be available to work at least 15 hours per week for at least 3 months

While the following skills are not required, we are interested in candidates who have:

  • Experience with statistical analysis
  • Language skills (particularly Spanish)

If any of these skills or interests apply to you, please emphasize them in your application materials (see below).
