SITE MANAGER
Reports to: Director of Deconstruction
Salary: $40,000-45,000; commensurate with experience
Location: Savannah, GA (potential project-based travel needed)

Since its inception in 2018, Re:Purpose Savannah has grown from a pilot project into a national leader in the movement toward deconstruction, reuse, and circular economy in the built environment. Our operations include deconstruction, deconstruction consulting, and management of reclaimed lumber and architectural salvage yard fronting a marsh in East Savannah, Georgia. Additionally, we connect best practices for historic preservation with structural removal, emphasizing research and documentation to preserve the diverse histories in our community.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The site manager will work closely with the director of deconstruction. This position requires a strong leader with a connection to the values of our non-profit organization, including sustainability, historic preservation, and equity for women+ in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will appreciate a balance between demanding physical work, rigorous academic thought, mission-driven community engagement, and goals-oriented business development. This role specializes in supporting the operational aspects of the deconstruction department.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Support the Director of Deconstruction in all functions and responsibilities
- Train closely with the director on all aspects of deconstruction, including:
- deconstruction site assessment and technique
- crew leadership
- safety assessment and training
- asset management: vehicles, tools, safety gear, trailers
- Site planning and materials management: collaborate with Salvage department to efficiently move materials from site to yard
- Assume crew leadership in the absence of the director of deconstruction
- Ensure Safety is kept as top priority
- Maintain quality standards for all projects
- Uses expert skill and collaboration with team members to protect, salvage, and disassemble all ranges of structures
Job Qualifications:
- Degree in Construction Management or related degree; or equivalent experience
- An academic background in architecture, sustainability, historic preservation, construction, or similar preferred
- OSHA 30 certification preferred
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities:
- Ability to safely operate standard power tools and light equipment
- Ability to think critically and problem solve in a dynamic work environment
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong commitment to/be knowledgeable of Industrial Safety, as it relates to construction activities
- Possess a positive and professional attitude while working in a high stress environment
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule as needed
- Overall proficiency with computers and software (Microsoft Office, Google products, etc.)
- Capable of communication via phone calls, text message, Google workspaces, and email
- Capable of working with a range of personalities, and respectful of diverse backgrounds and levels of experience
- Must be able to get to work on time – job site start times can vary on a daily basis
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Capable of lifting~50 lbs, repeatedly over the course of a day; handling power tools and hand tools; prying, pulling and twisting
- Mechanically inclined, comfortable with heights and spatially aware; Climbing ladders, suspended in lifts/buckets and wearing harnesses
- Comfortable wearing a respirator and working according to safety standards with hazardous or potentially hazardous material
Must be capable of carrying out all of the above requirements without accommodation or with reasonable accommodation discussed and agreed upon by management.
