Denver Botanic Gardens is currently seeking a PART TIME seasonal Shipping & Receiving Associate! Read below to see if the requirements might be a good fit for you:
Position Summary
This position will assist with the day-to-day responsibilities of the shipping and receiving dock. Duties include but are not limited to the timely and accurate processing and resolution of inventory receiving, storage organization, and restocking with the overall goal of maximizing gift shop profitability. Hours and scheduling to be discussed in the interview.
Requirements
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists with receiving gift shop deliveries.
- Opens shipments and inspect for damage.
- Assists in unpacking all shipments, counting, and verifying merchandise units comparing quantities to the packing list.
- Prints all receiving documents for management and files appropriately.
- Prints pricing labels and supervises the accurate ticketing of each item using available gift shop personnel, volunteers, or community service.
- Transports inventory from the common dock area to gift shop storage and to the appropriate Shop location.
- Maintains all storage and stock rooms, keeping all inventory organized and readily accessible.
- Checks sales floor and stock rooms to ensure the proper inventory mix is on the sales floor, and that all items are represented at all times.
- Greets Garden visitors and gift shop customers pleasantly, courteously, and promptly, as needed.
- Promotes Gift Shop sales as needed.
- Checks Shop clipboard daily for “stockroom to Shop” requests for Fill-in items, shopping bags, additional shelving, and display items.
- Performs month end cycle inventory counts, as necessary, when requested by Finance.
- Assists in Shop annual inventory preparation.
- Works with all departments to assure the highest quality experience for all Denver Botanic Gardens visitors.
- Receives and distributes dock shipments for all departments including but not limited to Fed Ex, UPS, Amazon, courier deliveries.
- Releases outgoing shipments for all departments.
- Regular attendance at the worksite may be required. As with all positions at Denver Botanic Gardens, the incumbent must be in good performance standing to be eligible for remote work. Remote work is at the discretion of management at all times.

Position Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of shipping and receiving.
- Knowledge of all aspects of gift shop merchandise.
- Must be able and willing to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Ability to maintain accurate inventory.
- Must have good organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to visitors, members, volunteers, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must have proven excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills in dealing with the public.
- Ability to maintain stability under pressure and able to deal well with stressful situations.
- Ability to be flexible and willing to modify plans, when necessary, throughout the day.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite products, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook and Teams.
- Ability to work overtime as necessary.
- Must be a positive representative of the Gardens both internally and externally at all times.
- Must work with respect and cooperation at all times with fellow employees and the public.
- Must be committed to working safely at all times.
Experience/Education:
- High school diploma / GED and/or combination of education and equivalent experience is required.
- Minimum of 1 years of experience in shipping and receiving.
- Minimum of 1 years of experience with inventory control.
