SHIFT LEADER

(FULL TIME)

Salary: $ Minimum Wage per hour + MSC + Tips

**** (Average hourly rate for our Shift Leaders is $35 per hour) ***

POSITION SUMMARY: Shift Lead contributes to company’s success by being the “team leader” involvement in the day-to-day of the floor operations. The Shift Lead effectively leads a shift while ensuring operational excellence. In charge of providing leadership to employees at shift-based to ensure the business operates correctly. Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include supporting with training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work. As well as with the support of a floor manager: addressing complaints and resolving problems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned):

  • Maintain high standards of appearance and hygiene that include clean clothes, nails, and hair. No heavy perfumes/colognes.
  • Ensure positive and creative team environment within department.
  • Create employee engagement, for employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Facilitate open communication with other supervisors, and staff
  • Facilitate proper inter-departmental communications especially on the training of new products for FOH employees – set training hours and pre-shifts.
  • Directs, administers, and controls hourly operations and activities of facilities and programs in an assigned area.
  • Ensures compliance with established company and regulatory guidelines and procedures to provide high quality service and outstanding customer care.
  • Participates in the implementation of divisional and company initiatives and strategies.
  • Oversees the business of the assigned facilities within a defined area through effective leadership and management of customer service, quality care, marketing, and responsible fiscal management.
  • Implements, disseminates, and administers operations strategies and objectives to ensure the achievement of the divisions and company’s goals and objectives.
  • Contributes to a strong and robust communications process between all managers and staff within the area and across the division as needed.
  • Maintain Technique Execution: Oversee and maintain the quality of deli plates.
  • Develop Training Packet w/ Management: Create, update, and offer your suggestions on materials and systems needed to successfully train new deli staff.
  • Maintain Deli Resources/Binder: Cheese/Charcuterie Book, Deli Bible, Descriptions & Portioning (Dine in and Catering)
  • Holding Deli Department meetings every few months to make sure everyone is on the same page
  • Help with Deli Classes for FOH staff
  • Update and communicate with managers about inconsistencies in closing or opening procedures.
  • Maintain Health Department Check List and Thermometers
  • Maintain System Development: Production pars, Partake/oversee aspects of production that pertain to the deli program.
  • Maintain / Oversee Deep cleaning schedule (Fridge Cleaning and )Walk In Backstock
  • Maintain Equipment Sign Out Sheet
  • Provide information regarding any needs the deli may have, or materials that are running low or need replacement.
  • Oversee Opening & Closing Checklist
  • Maintain Cleanliness/Presentation of the space/lowboys
  • Maintains Ordering/Inventory: Diverse selection, Nerdy VS accessible
  • Helps wth Menu Development
  • Meet with chefs/management on a frequent basis to give updates, express qualms, and productively participate in discussions to improve our deli program.
  • Follow through with any changes/tasks passed to you by the management team.
  • Ensures all employees receive the appropriate training according to policies and procedures including ongoing compliance training.
  • Ensure adherence to safety guidelines
  • Update, organize, and verify the information currently in the Bar handbook.
  • Update, and offer your suggestions on materials and systems needed to successfully train new baristas.
  • Partake in aspects of production that can further your knowledge
  • Daily monitoring of quality control
  • Meet with management on a frequent basis to give updates, express qualms, and productively participate in discussions to improve our bar program.
  • Provide information regarding any needs the bar may have, or materials that are running low or need replacement.
  • Continue your orders of coffee and tea and ensure that pars are adjusted as needed according to seasonal shifts. Arrange coverage of ordering duties when your schedule doesn’t allow you to do it yourself.
  • Update and communicate with managers about inconsistencies in closing or opening procedures.
  • Attend/Lead the pre-shift meeting to find out the changes on the menu, 86s, and Chef’s aesthetic for new dishes. Ensure all members of staff are aware of daily notes. Update daily info and new items sheets.
  • Read carefully the weekly email of updates or changes.
  • Ensure all customers have been greeted/assisted.
  • Communicate any issues with day to day service to GM. Be proactive in helping the team and training new staff.
  • Deal with any service issues through your floor manager and communicate any unresolved issues to them at the end of the shift.
  • Always be evolving. Improve on systems, maintain efficiency and workflow of the space. Ensure systems are running smoothly and the best way possible.
  • Mentor and invest in barista and bar team. Lead by example and find ways to engage with your teams for exceptional product and service.
  • Ensure proper execution of all company mandates
  • Assist management in the training and development of employees.
  • Act with integrity, honesty and leadership that promotes company’s values.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with all labor laws, policies and procedures. Notify Manager of any violations immediately via appropriate channels.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the location and ensure proper set up and breakdown of the entire operation.
  • Assist management with ensuring daily, weekly, monthly logs are maintained
  • Assist in checking throughout the day to maintain company and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point rules and regulations.
  • Cross train in all other positions and provide support to those work stations as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Shift Lead assists location to comply with the organization’s policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations. Responsibilities include assisting in training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; ensuring meal and rest periods are provided; motivating staff; noting performance discrepancies/policy violations during shift; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.

  • 2+ years of restaurant / retail operations experience.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule to include evenings, weekend shifts, and holidays.
  • Previous shift lead experience, preferred.
  • Must know basic math

  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish, preferred, but not required.
  • Must be able to take direction and delegate responsibilities effectively.

  • Adaptable, team-oriented, dependable, and strong work ethic.
  • Manager Food Handler Certification – Food Handling & Sanitation Awareness
  • Must understand how to abide by the rules of the Department of Health related to Food Service.
