Job Description

EMBL-EBI is embarking on a transformative mission to enhance its IT services through the implementation of the IT Service Management (ITSM) framework using the ServiceNow platform. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our implementation team, actively participating in the green-field deployment of the platform. This initiative involves the utilisation of ITIL best practices, aiming to optimise IT services through automation, standardisation, and the introduction of transparency in service quality.

As a ServiceNow developer at EMBL-EBI, you will play a crucial role in the development, design, and support of technical solutions on the ServiceNow platform.Your responsibilities will span across administration, application development, maintenance, and technical support for the ServiceNow platform, all executed with the utilisation of best practices in web programming techniques. Your role

  • Plan, execute, monitor, and work on all technical tasks related to the development, configuration and implementation of the ServiceNow platform.
  • Obtain and analyse / interpret business requirements to propose sustainable solutions within the ServiceNow environment.
  • Address “how-to” technical and application configuration questions about the ServiceNow system.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute reports to ensure the system operation meets performance targets.
  • Update and maintain a comprehensive testing protocol for ServiceNow instance upgrades.
  • Perform manual and unit testing, analyse test results and validate application data to meet functional specifications and maintain test plans.
  • Create and maintain system design and operations documentation.
  • Commit to continuous improvement and learning of ServiceNow best practices, tools, and technology.
  • Assist in the design, configuration, customisation, development, and testing of ServiceNow applications, specifically focused on ITSM, integrations, Employee Center, workspaces.
  • Build Service Catalog items as per stakeholder requirements. Build logic using Workflows and Flow designers.
You have

  • Overarching understanding of ServiceNow Enterprise product suite, with in-depth knowledge of ITSM.
  • Hands-on experience with the ServiceNow platform, including configuration, customisation and development
  • Proficiency in ServiceNow scripting languages such as JavaScript, GlideScript and Jelly.
  • Experience in developing and implementing ServiceNow Flow Designer, Business Rules, Server Scripting, UI Actions and UI Policies.
  • Demonstrable experience with ServiceNow APIs and integration with other IT systems.
  • Knowledge of web technologies, HTML, CSS, and REST APIs.
  • Understanding of database concepts, especially within the context of ServiceNow’s database schema.
  • Troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving technical issues within the ServiceNow environment.
  • Ability to document and articulate technical solutions clearly.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, end-users, and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a team member, with good time-management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving business requirements and technological advancements.
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum concepts, ideally with experience operating in a Scrum team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 4+ years experience of ServiceNow development, including IT service management process design and system integrations.
  • ServiceNow System Administrator & ITSM Implementation Specialist certifications are required.
  • Other relevant ServiceNow certifications, such as Certified Application Developer (CAD), may be beneficial.
You might also have

  • Knowledge of web-based systems architecture, service-based architecture, and enterprise application architecture.
  • Experience with ITOM or HRSD modules is desirable.
  • Understanding of CMDB and Asset Management.
  • Familiarity with ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) best practices.
