Primary Purpose
Integrate, evaluate, and validate large data streams associated with SDG&E’s Wildfire Mitigation Plan (WMP) programs and initiatives. Perform continuous data health analysis used to develop and enhance WMP management strategies for each phase of the WMP programs and initiatives. Effectively lead analysis to achieve WMP operating objectives and advance SDG&E’s use of asset data analytics. Partner with the appropriate operating unit experts to identify data streams, perform quantified data analytics, and validate data before it is added to the data repository. Implement solutions based on quantifiable results. Maintain process and tools that drive outcomes into future assessments. Ensure that appropriate data systems and tools are utilized and maintained to support analytics platform, including data definitions, policies and procedures related to wildfire programs that support the WMP plan.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages the development, implementation, integration and maintenance of WMP data analytical tools and processes across the operating organization.
  • In alignment with key operating objectives and corporate strategy, develops analytics risk-informed strategies and performance metrics to assess data validity, health and performance to support WMP decision making and overall objectives.
  • Builds and enhances internal alliances with key operating leadership and subject experts to establish appropriate metrics and analytics to support the WMP and its operating objectives.
  • Leads validation of WMP data to ensure resources are optimized in support of strategic initiatives and activities. Assists in the prioritization of workload based on resources.
  • Assists in the development and delivery of added WMP dashboards tabs, reports and presentations on WMP data performance against risk informed metrics.
  • Builds and fosters external alliances to maintain up to date knowledge of industry-related issues in data analytics.
  • Serves as key strategic and advocacy role for information systems that support data analytics, providing common platform for data integration, integrity and usability.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, related field or equivalent training and/or experience.
  • 5 years – Experience in data analytics and organization, including some experience with Business Intelligence (BI) reporting, data warehousing, financial data and data validation.
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills, MS Power Point and Word.
  • Strong analytical thinking, analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage large data acquisition and provide validation, draw on analytical tools to provide recommendations.
  • Solid understanding of electric utility distribution and transmission.
  • Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
  • We offer a hybrid work environment. Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow you to work from the office two to three days per week and work remotely on the remaining workdays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree Business, organizational management, statistics or related field.
  • Experience with wildfire mitigation programs, reporting requirements, and associated wildfire analytics from a utility perspective.
  • Strong scripting knowledge in Python, SQL, and/or R, including debugging workflows, and QA/QC.
  • Strong experience with geospatial analytics.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to work well on cross-functional project teams and foster team commitment to tasks.

Must be willing to participate as needed in Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activations at any hour.

$93,800.00 – $140,700.00
