Full-Time Senior Utility Coordinator – 2 Openings!
Job Description
- Work with our Utility Engineers to review highway construction plans to develop preliminary relocation/avoidance plans in support of our transportation projects.
- Work closely with utility owners through plan presentations, coordination of transportation construction design activities, assistance with the development of construction schedules and ultimately managing the utilities relocation schedule to ensure no utility causes a delay in our transportation project schedules.
- Develops preliminary utilities project estimates, review estimates prepared by owners, and approve payments to utility owners.
- Assist with environmental compliance by reviewing submissions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards.
- Interpret NC General Statues to assist in determining responsibility of utility construction and design costs, eligibility for assistance in purchasing easements, and recommending requested easements for approval and purchase.
- Experience reading and interpreting highway construction plans and utility construction plans.
- Excellent communications and negotiation skills to work with public agencies, contractors, and utility companies.
- Project management experience in scheduling and coordinating multiple project factors.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- The role is located in Raleigh, but will require occasional statewide travel, sometimes overnight.
- Associate’s Degree in engineering technology, and
- 6+ years experience as a technician; or
- High School/GED, and
- 8+ years experience as a technician, or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
