Full-Time Senior Utilities Engineer
Job Description
- Provide engineering support and decisions on Design Build projects.
- Manage utilities relocation schedules on Design Build projects.
- Manage projects and engineering resources supporting engineering design activities and schedules for NCDOT Design Build projects.
- Provide technical expertise to coordinators with multi-disciplinary staff in the procurement and delivery of Design Build projects.
- Assist in the development of contract documents and requirements, including coordination of multi-disciplined Scopes of Work and Special Provisions with NCDOT units and Divisions.
- Review preliminary and final utility relocation plans, special provisions, project estimates, and cost responsibility determinations to ensure concurrence with the contract requirements and NCDOT policies/procedures.
- Assist with the contract administration and address contract questions from contractors and designers.
- Provide technical support and make recommendations supporting NCDOT divisions during project construction.
- Experience developing relocation strategies, designing, reviewing, or providing engineering support for construction of utilities (water, sewer, electric power, gas, or telecommunications).
- Experience communicating technical information, verbally and in writing, to a range of partners, team members, or stakeholders.
- Experience collaborating on technical matters with other engineers, technical staff, and multidisciplinary team members.
- Computer skills in CADD, Microsoft Office, and ability to access and manipulate data, applications, documents, and design plans.
- Bachelors degree in engineering, and
- 3+ years of relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
- We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
