We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Staff System Engineer to join our team!

The Senior Staff System Engineer plays a central role throughout the different phases of product development. This position is part of a team responsible for developing and supporting a complex high-throughput genomics system focused to product launch.

The position is responsible for managing complex system upgrades on the leading-edge sequencer product at the customer site, within specifications, on time, and within budget; all while exceeding customer expectations in terms of safety and quality performance. The position is a key role in next generation product introduction, from interfacing with multiple engineering disciplines for specifications development, product validation, verification, transfer to manufacturing and field, and support of customer ramp.

Must have the knowledge and experience to effectively work with team members in optics, fluidics, electronics, mechanics and software as required to resolve issues. Some travel may be required for support at customer sites.

How You’ll Contribute

  • Own creation and execution of critical field upgrade plans.
  • Work with engineers to establish root cause, corrective actions, and document issues and solutions to improve design and/or procedures so that they may be implemented across the fleet in a standard manner.
  • Provide project status updates towards customer, and coordinate customer-related activities with project team.
  • Effectively communicate complex upgrade and technical details to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Resolve inconsistencies between subsystems, identify high-risk areas, and develop mitigation strategies.

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Scientific discipline
  • 10 years of relevant work experience
  • Proven ability to perform effectively in a demanding environment with changing workloads and deadlines.
  • Strong prioritization skills
  • Ability to manage complex products and teams.
  • At least five years of project management excellence in a complex and challenging high-tech environment, preferably with substantial customer interaction.
