Full-Time Senior Staff Accountant
Job Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for daily and monthly accounting functions, including journal entries, schedules, and account reconciliations. Assists in maintaining the general ledger while ensuring data integrity. Follow proper procedures, the ability to prioritize and multitask, and be a strong communicator. In addition, assist with year-end close process, internal controls, process improvement and documentation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with the month-end financial close process, including, but not limited to the preparation of journal entries, bank and balance sheet account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Prepare and analyze data from CRM (Salesforce) and export/import into general ledger.
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition and provide revenue projections for programs.
- Record all JCCSF payroll & benefit expenses – includes bi-weekly payroll, tax payments, 403(b) contributions, monthly/quarterly/yearly accruals, and employer’s portion of health, dental, & LTD benefits
- Record all expenses of the JCCSF’s 3rd party partners, including Exos and ABM. Expenses include payroll, taxes & benefits, and management fees.
- Reconcile and record Gifts, Grants, Fundraising and Event data and support Development operations with process and reporting requests.
- Maintain and record fixed assets and depreciation.
- Prepare government filings.
- Be a Super User of the JCCSF business systems and procedures, including testing processes, providing feedback.
- Build reports and dashboards to track and analyze results.
- Provide support and assistance with year-end close, annual audit and tax return preparation.
- Work closely with program/department leads to review monthly budget to actual variances.
- Provide ECE Parent Council with monthly activity reconciliations.
- Prepare bank accounts reconciliations.
- Assist with projects as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Four-year college degree in Accounting/Business/Finance
- Minimum 5 years experience in Accounting and Finance
- Non-profit industry experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and non-profit accounting
- Salesforce experience preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, Sharepoint, Teams)
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail, professional, and a team player
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be fluent in English.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This job is primarily performed on-site at the JCCSF. Working conditions are typical of an office environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical requirements are typical of those needed in an office environment. Work includes standing and seated use of computers throughout the workday.
