Job Description
Thompson Coburn, a large full-service law firm with offices in seven (7) cities across the U.S., is in search of a full-time exempt Senior SQL Administrator/Developer to join its remote office in St. Louis, Chicago, Dallas, New York, or Washington, D.C. Under the leadership of the DevOps Manager, this position will play a vital role in ensuring the optimal design, performance, and reliability of our database systems (40%) while also contributing to the design, development, and maintenance of software applications and integrations (60%). The candidate successful in this position will have seven (7) years’ experience as a database administrator or similar role. This position is eligible for a fully remote work schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement MS SQL database systems based on the Firms requirements.
- Tune SQL queries and database configurations for optimal performance.
- Develop and implement enterprise backup and recovery strategies.
- Monitor and audit database access to ensure compliance with security policies.
- Design, develop, and maintain applications, including web and desktop applications.
- Analyze user requirements and design solutions that meet the Firm’s needs.
- Perform unit testing and participate in system testing.
- Develop and maintain superior IT services through effective use of configuration management, incident management, crisis management, knowledge management, problem management, and change management.
Experience and Education Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent degree/experience.
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience as a database administrator or similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of database architecture, normalization, and indexing.
- Proven experience with database backup and recovery processes.
- Experience with GitHub, Azure DevOps, to include the full life cycle of .NET application development.
Preferred
- Data visualization skills using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a law firm or professional services organizations.
- Commensurate, and recent, technical certificates in modern era MS, such as Azure Database Administrator Associate, or equivalent required within eighteen (18) months of hire.
Compensation
For applicants that meet the experience requirements for the role and are physically based in New York City, the expected salary range is $130,000 – $165,000 annually upon commencement of employment. Starting salary will be determined on an individualized basis with consideration to prior experience and additional qualifications. This is in addition to a comprehensive benefit package offered by the Firm.
