Slate is the industry-leading CRM for over 1,200 colleges, universities, and secondary schools to handle their enrollment management, student success, and advancement processes. Position Summary:
Led by the Senior Engineering Manager, engineers are tasked with building and maintaining the entire Slate codebase. We are full-stack web developers with a mix of both front-end design and backend infrastructure experience. Primarily working in C#, our engineers wear many hats ranging from working with product managers on community-driven suggestions, developing large scale features, bug fixes, and more. Engineers have taught classes, led webinars, sung songs in a corporate music video, and helped to select the signature cocktail for our annual conference.
Some travel may be required; annual attendance at Slate Innovation Summit highly encouraged.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5, preferably 8+ years of enterprise software development experience
- Strong skills in writing high-performing, scalable C# and T-SQL code
- Strong front-end web development skill including HTML, XSLT, CSS, JavaScript
- Familiarity with use of RESTful APIs
- Knowledge of secure coding practices and, ideally, experience working with sensitive data
- Nice to have – machine learning, native mobile design, Azure Devops, experience with cloud services such as AWS or Azure
- Comfort communicating philosophical and technical details with product managers and documentation writers
- Comfort working collaboratively in a team environment using an agile process– and ability to take on individual action items and get stuff done
- Willingness to learn and understand the concerns and business needs of our users and the world of higher education
- Bachelor’s degree or greater required
- On-site work in our New Haven, CT office beginning no later than September 1, 2020
