Senior Research Associate – Antibody Purification (Discovery Biotherapeutics)
Typical Daily Work schedule: 8am – 5pm with some flexibility in start/end times as long as they work 8 hrs/day. 4hrs of on-site lab work subject to change based on COVID-19.
Manager needs candidates with HANDS ON Antibody Purification Experience (Bispecific Antibody experience is a plus).
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Primary responsibility is to perform original research in order to develop marketable products.
• Special emphasis will be placed on automated antibody purification, which will involve working with Client AKTA (Pure/Avant) and Unicorn software.
• Will also be tasked with supporting a variety of projects within our R&D division.
• Will manage your workload with minimal supervision.
• Performs antibody and bispecific antibody purification and analytical characterization.
Antibody and bispecific purification: concentrating supernatants, preparation and packing of chromatography columns, and conducting endotoxin free chromatography, including operating preparative and analytical chromatography systems.
• Analytical characterization: Endotoxin measurements, protein quantitation assays, analytical HPLC chromatography. Independently operates analytical instruments such as spectrophotometers, analytical HPLC, capillary electrophoresis (CE-SDS), plate readers.
• Formulation: formulation buffer preparation (molar concentration quantitation and pH adjustment) and formulation optimization.
• Develops new protocols and troubleshoots existing protocols through process optimization, DoE (Design of Experiment) knowledge a plus.
• Storing, inventorying, and ordering department supplies and chemicals and preparing chemical solutions according to department procedures, specifications, or supervisory instructions.
• Participates on cross-functional teams by performing assigned experiments and offering technical advice at team meetings; shares technical expertise with other colleagues; trains or provides guidance to other personnel, if needed.
• Will maintain a neat, clean and orderly work environment
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSA’s):
• Bachelor’s (B.S.) or Master’s (M.S.) degree in biochemistry, organic chemistry, bioengineering, or equivalent; with 3+ of related experience and/or training. NOT INTERESTED IN PhD’s.
• REQUIRES **antibody purification** background (Minimum of 1 years).
• Must be very detail-oriented and organized, with excellent time-management and multitasking skills.
• Have outstanding analytic and problem-solving abilities.
• Display excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, as well as the ability to interact tactfully and effectively with employees at all levels of the organizational structure.
• Must be highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, well organized and work effectively as part of a team.
